The Passion - guidance from Churches' Media Council

The BBC's screening of The Passion during Holy Week has been welcomed by the Churches' Media Council as a significant moment for the Christian faith to engage with our culture: "There's no need to debate whether or not the Christian community should welcome this production or not. We celebrate the fact that the story of Jesus is being retold for an audience of millions."

The Churches Media Council is working closely with the BBC so that the Christian community is well prepared for the series and is keen to ensure a mature and positive reception: "We want to use this golden opportunity to contribute to a contemporary public discussion about Jesus."

Guidance about this production of The Passion, prepared by a group representing many of the major Christian denominations, is available on the Churches' Media Council link to external website web site.

The Passion, a dramatic re-telling of the last days of Jesus, will be broadcast at peak times on BBC1, with the first episode being shown on Palm Sunday 16 March and the final episode on Easter Sunday 23 March.
