A Day of Prayer for Syria and the Middle East
The Bishops of the Catholic Church of England and Wales have asked that the Catholic community mark 4 December as a day of prayer for all those suffering from injustice.

Church of Scotland moderator joins initiative to help Syria conflict victims
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Right Rev Lorna Hood, has joined in with the church's A place at the table initiative by hosting a special meal at her official residence. A place at the table aims to raise funds to help those affected by the crisis in Syria.

WCC general secretary: military action cannot bring peace in Syria
While condemning all use of chemical weapons in Syria, the World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit said that "we must do everything possible to starve the fire of war rather than feeding it with further deadly armaments."

Pope renews appeal for peace in Syria and calls for fasting and prayer
Pope Francis has again called for peace in Syria inviting Christians of every denomination, believers of every religious tradition and all people of good will to take part in a worldwide fast and vigil of prayer and penance for peace on September 7th.

Church leaders give thanks for UK rejection of military action in Syria
Leaders from the United Reformed Church, the Methodist Church in Britain and the Baptist Union of Great Britain have given thanks for the decision of the UK Parliament to reject military action in Syria. Prior to the vote, the Quakers in Britain had called for a non-violent response to the Syria crisis.

Archbishop of Canterbury's speech in the House of Lords on Syria
While acknowledging that that there is as much risk in inaction as there is in action, Justin Welby quotes 'Just War' theory saying that the step of opening fire is one that must only be taken when there is no possible alternative whatsoever, under any circumstances.

Catholic bishops of England and Wales call for prayers for Syria
Archbishop Vincent Nichols, president of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, and Bishop Declan Lang, chair of the international affairs committee for the Conference, have called on all Catholics to offer prayers, and to offer practical support wherever possible, for all those affected by the conflict in Syria.
