Letter of support to Ørnulf Steen, Norwegian Council of Churches

These last days will have been very difficult for you and indeed for the whole of the Norwegian people. Here in the UK we understand something of the horror that follows such tragic events as you have suffered on Friday. It has also brought thoughts of such events as the massacre in Dunblane in my homeland of Scotland. But the scale of Friday's devastation is beyond understanding.

I wanted you to know that all the member Churches in Britain and Ireland are remembering and praying for our dear friends and colleagues in Norway at this terrible time. You will continue to be held in our prayers and affection over the coming days and weeks, as you endeavour to rebuild so many aspects of your lovely way of life. Norway has always been associated with peace and tranquility. It is our hope and prayer that this will return to you very soon.

Please be assured of my own personal prayers and deepest thoughts for you and your staff in the Norwegian Council of Churches at this time.

With best wishes

Bob Fyffe
General Secretary
